Glory and Rapture

Feb 15, 2026

When Peter, James, and John witnessed Jesus radiating the glory of God—shining like the sun while conversing with Moses and Elijah—they experienced a moment of profound clarity. They saw Jesus not as they wished Him to be, but as He truly is: the beloved Son of God. This story reminds us that spiritual maturity involves training our eyes to see reality clearly, to distinguish the genuine from the counterfeit. In our daily lives, we often trade real treasures like faithfulness, kindness, and honesty for lesser things like professional acclaim or material success. The Transfiguration teaches us that when we behold true beauty and glory, whether in prayer, nature, art, or Scripture, we're likewise trained to see the world more truthfully. And when we encounter that divine beauty and fall to our knees in awe, like the disciples before the transfigured Christ, we hear the reassuring words: 'Get up. Do not be afraid.'
