Father Justin is our rector and leads our church spiritually and administratively. He loves his wife Jewelle, daughter Beatrice, and his dog Val, good food, good music, good wine, and everything else that reminds him of how crazy undeserved are all the best things in life - grace!

He is overjoyed by the good news that in Jesus, God has made everything okay (even him), and has devoted his life to trying to let everyone know. He thinks it's okay to think seriously about God and to ask tough questions of Christian faith.

He is a theologian by training and has degrees from the University of Tennessee and Yale University. He is a trustee of Berkeley Divinity School at Yale. He came to us from St. Mark's Church in New Canaan, where he served as an assistant for ten years.

He lives with Jewelle, Bea and Val (our dog in charge!) at the rectory on the holy hilltop. Besides the Lord, his passions include clam chowder, New England autumn, Ina Garten, the New York Mets, and the music of Wagner.

Reverend Phoebe is our associate rector and leads our ministry with kids, youth, and parents as well as assisting Father Justin in the spiritual leadership of the church.

She grew up in church as a choir kid, and church was her second home - basically the coolest playground ever! She has a remarkable gift of making others, of all ages, feel the same way.

She is a graduate of Boston University, Yale Divinity School, and Berkeley Divinity School at Yale.

Her beloved Shih Tzu, Sadie, has also joined the staff and serves alongside Val as our associate dog in charge.

Marnus Greyling obtained a BMus degree cum laude from the University of Pretoria, studying organ performance with Wim Viljoen - a former student of Marie-Claire Alain and Jean Langlais.

He completed a Master of Music degree at the University of Cambridge (Jesus College, 2017), receiving a Cambridge Instrumental Award for organ, and studied organ with Gordon Stewart, while working closely with Christopher Robinson on Anglican choral music as organ scholar of Downing College.

Other teachers during this time include Sarah MacDonald, Graham Ross, Stephen Cleobury, Andrew Nethsingha, and Stephen Layton.

Marnus was subsequently organ scholar at St Albans Cathedral in the United Kingdom, sharing all playing duties, playing for live BBC radio broadcasts, acting as principal accompanist to the Abbey Girl's Choir, and directing the Abbey Singers. He toured with the choir to Sweden in 2018.

He was also accompanist to the St Albans Bach Choir, performing large-scale works such as the Brahms Requiem with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Marnus has performed extensively in South Africa, England, Wales, Sweden, Lithuania, and the United States.

He is a guest conductor and organist for Vox Cantab, a UK-based choir made up of former Cambridge choral scholars, and has performed with them several times, most recently at St David's Cathedral, Wales.

He was the top prize winner in the national organ competitions of SAKOV each year from 2011-2015. He won the Pretorium Trust Bursary competition for piano in 2012 and received top prizes in the ATKV national music competition for organ in 2015 and 2016.

Marnus has had masterclasses with Martin Haselböck, Daniel Roth, Clive Driskill-Smith, Mark Williams, Simon Lindley and Frédéric Blanc. He has performed at various international music festivals.

In 2020 Marnus organised the first Johannesburg English Music Festival in collaboration with the UK-based festival.

Before coming to the United States, he was the university organist of the University of South Africa, director of the jazz vocal a cappella group The Parktown Singers, assistant director of the Symphony Choir of Johannesburg, chairman of the RSCM Northern Branch, and Director of Music at the historic St George's Anglican Church Parktown.

Recordings of his solo performances and collaborative work with singers and orchestras regularly feature on Southern African radio stations and television.

Marnus is on the executive board of SAKOV, a member of the AGO, the Association of Anglican Musicians (AAM), and the St Wilfrid's Club, a New York City-based organists club.

He is currently Director of Music at St Barnabas Episcopal in Greenwich, CT, with its highly regarded choral tradition and renowned Richards, Fowkes & Co. Opus One pipe organ.

Marnus is fluent in Afrikaans and English, while also speaking German and Dutch. He has a great interest in history, particularly archeology, and enjoys traveling and meeting new people and cultures.

Alessandra manages communications outside and inside St. Barnabas, maintaining our digital and social media platforms, coordinating logistics for our ministries, and sharing our story with the world.

She's your contact for questions about serving at St. Barnabas, events and services (like baptisms, funerals, and weddings), media inquiries, space use, or if you're not sure who you should call.

Lori oversees the financial life of the church and, generally, ensures the trains run on time. She is also the staff contact for buildings and grounds and our cemeteries.

Lori has two children, Timothy and Alicia, and has been married to Bill for over forty years. She loves cruises and all kinds of music.

Dr. Jewelle spearheads the Children's Church program, working alongside the wonderful Family Ministry team and Rev. Phoebe to care for the children of the parish.

When she is not planning arts and crafts activities for Children's Church, she can be found spending time with her daughter, Beatrice, her dog, Valkyrie, and her husband, Fr. Justin.
