During Sunday Worship
YC (Youth Church)
YC meets during our 10am service in the youth room, just down the hall from Children's Church. YC is a religious formation program and youth group for 4th-8th grade. There will be prayer, fellowship, faith formation, and fun. Contact Rev. Phoebe for more information.
Youth 9th grade and up are encouraged to volunteer to lead Children's Church and participate in our Teen Bible Study, which meets after the 10am service.
We believe in empowering our young people to worship God and serve their community through liturgical leadership. Youth 4th grade and up can volunteer to be a reader, torch-bearer (acolyte), or cross-bearer (crucifer) during the 10am service.
Youth 7th grade and up are especially encouraged to serve as cross-bearer. Youth volunteers are still able to attend YC.
St. Barnabas provides confirmation class for youth 7th-10th grade September-May. The confirmation rite usually takes place on a Saturday in mid-May every year. Please contact Rev. Phoebe to sign up.
Youth 8th grade and up, especially confirmed students, are encouraged to continue their faith formation in a monthly Bible study designed specifically for teens.
Bible study will take place after the 10am service from 11:15am-12:30pm and include lunch from Chicken Joe's. See our Small Groups page for more information. Contact Rev. Phoebe to sign up.
On Sunday mornings, youth head directly to the youth room at the beginning of the 10am service. Youth return to their families at the Peace to partake in Holy Communion.
Youth serving in liturgical roles meet in the parlor (at the entrance of the Parish Hall) to vest and receive instruction.
We have occasional "Youth Sundays" for youth to experience the full Rite II service. On these Sundays, YC meets in the main sanctuary in the roped off section to worship alongside the whole congregation and hear Rev. Phoebe preach a youth sermon.
