God, the Answer to Uncertainty

We can't always know how things will turn out — but we can be certain Who reigns over them. The second in a four-part series on life in a VUCA world (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) turns to uncertainty: not just that the world is changing, but that we can't know how. Writing from prison and awaiting trial, the Apostle Paul is strangely unbothered by the verdict: "to me, living is Christ and dying is gain," he says. His confidence rests not on God controlling every outcome, but on God reigning over all possible outcomes. A sovereign King is not a micromanager; He's a monarch who bends everything, in the long run, toward good — as He once did one terrible Friday outside Jerusalem.
